Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Manager (Virtual) to join the Enterprise Software Products and Capabilities (ESPC), Utilities and Tools Team located in Long Beach, CA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Engineering Test & Technology (ET&T) business organization.

As part of Boeing’s Enterprise Software Products and Capabilities organization, our engineers develop and deliver software capability to the entire Boeing Enterprise including the Operating System, Infrastructure and hosted application software for current and future platforms. This position will provide software engineering management and leadership over the Boeing Flight Management System (BFMS) software utilities development, DO-330 certification and convergence into ESPC Utility Product Line Families. The BFMS utilities software development team is responsible for the architecture, development, deployment and certification of cloud-based software applications used in development and verification of 737 Loadable Software Airplane Parts, internal & external development and analysis of BFMS Navigation Data, and ensuring software application availability across 5 cloud run-time environments.

Major program milestones within 2023 & 2024 include: complete DO-330 qualification of 4 utility suites, complete Nav Data Services baseline software functionality, submit and support Level of Acceptance 2 application of Nav Data Services to the FAA. The current team is a global distributed team and composed of 3 US/India integrated scrum teams responsible for activities throughout the full software development lifecycle.

This position will also be required to support the current daily, weekly and monthly commitments to the BFMS program and additional Navigation Data Services stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Engineering
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science degree, or other technical degree
  • 7+ years of experience in software development
  • Experience in a leadership position

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience cloud native and/or microservices architecture software applications
  • Prior experience with DO-330 qualification of software applications
  • Experience with developing and debugging in Python, Java, C/C++ or equivalent programming languages
